Big Boy Westward Bound

Union Pacific has announced the general schedule for a summer tour of Big Boy 4014, the world’s largest operating steam locomotive. 4014’s Westward Bound Tour will start June 30 in Cheyenne, Wyo., enroute to Roseville, Calif.,

Note to Lego: Issue This Kit!

My son Craig is an automotive technician specializing in German high-performance cars (BMW M Class, Mercedes AMG, Porsches, etc.—you get the picture.) He also owns a new Royal Enfield Continental GT motorcycle he has been modifying, and he and one of his buddies have started buying older rides to spruce up and modify. Craig got his start in his chosen field as a child, building Legos. He still collects and builds them.

How UP Added PTC to the ‘Big Boy’

Union Pacific’s (UP) articulated 4-8-8-4 “Big Boy” No. 4014—one of the largest and perhaps most famous steam locomotives ever built—was equipped with Positive Train Control (PTC) before embarking on its tour this summer to celebrate railroad heritage and the communities UP serves.
