Ferromex, Ferrosur add to SD70ACe fleet

Ferrocarril Mexicano, S.A. de C.V. (Ferromex) and Ferrocarril del Sureste S.A. de C.V. (Ferrosur), which are owned by Grupo México (Union Pacific has a 26% stake), are acquiring 34 Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) SD70ACe locomotives.

Mexico derailment claims migrant worker lives

At least six people were killed and as many as 35 were injured when a Ferrosur freight train nicknamed “La Bestia” (“The Beast”), on which would-be migrants hitch rides toward the U.S. border, derailed near Huimanguillo, Mexico, in a remote area in the southern state of Tabasco, on Sunday, August 25.
