Wabtec Corp. has been awarded a US$69.63 million (€60 million) contract to supply platform gates for the Marseille metro automation project in France. In addition, Siemens Mobility and BAI Communications (BAI) have finalized their acquisitions of Sqills, a Netherlands-based passenger rail software provider, and Mobilitie, a U.S. telecommunications infrastructure company, respectively.

Simmons Machine Tool Corp. and Hegenscheidt-MFD Corp.—partner companies within the NSH Group since 2001—are merging to better serve customers. Simmons designs and manufactures precision machines and automation systems for railway wheelset maintenance and production, and Hegenscheidt-MFD Corp. provides technical support, service and tooling for the company’s deep rolling crankshaft products in North America.
